Iraq war veteran, standup comedian, and Paleo visionary Will White is our interview guest today in Episode 846 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

Every successful movement needs visionaries who can assess the current trends and make educated predictions about what will happen in the future. That's the role that Denver, CO-based Paleo advocate Will White from "Caveman Cafeteria" has taken on in the Paleo community seeing how to make this lifestyle sustainable from a business perspective to help the message remain relevant to the masses who need to hear about it. You might recall his Kickstarter campaign to open the first Paleo food stand in Denver in 2013 and now he's turned to focusing on his very successful Paleo meal delivery service along with offering Paleo nutrition coaching from his company's in-house nutritionist Heather Kelly.

Listen to Jimmy and Will have quite the eclectic conversation about a wide variety of subjects, including his "Feed A Revolution" movement, sustainable farming through technology moving forward, transforming the way we deal with health and wellness so you don't have to rely on the government to be there for you, the broken healthcare system in America because of heavy ties to Big Pharma and insurance companies, his next start-up brand promoting edible marijuana products that are low-carb, and much, much more. Will is a bit eccentric and some might say just a little crazy. But we could use more forward-thinking people like him to bring Paleo to the forefront of mainstream thinking.

Writer and author Eve Schaub is our interview guest today in Episode 845 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

When pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Robert Lustig gave his now-infamous "Sugar: The Bitter Truth" lecture in July 2009 to a small group of mostly medical school students and laypeople at the University of California-San Francisco, little did he know that millions of people would be touched and inspired around the world by that talk through the power of the Internet. One of those people was a writer named Eve Schaub who watched Dr. Lustig's video and immediately laid down a daunting challenge to her husband and two young daughters--let's give up added sugar in our diet for a period of one year to see what would happen. Eve shares all about the incredible results of that experiment in a new book entitled Year of No Sugar: A Memoir. Listen in to hear Jimmy and Eve talk about what it was like to suddenly give up the sweet stuff and the lessons she and her family learned along the way. ENJOY!

Paleo enthusiast and intellectual property, patent, and trademark attorney Brent Britton is our interview guest today in Episode 844 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

Most of the interview guests we invite on to the podcast have something to contribute in the realm of diet, fitness and health. But today we wanted to shift gears slightly by inviting on a Tampa, FL-based lawyer named Brent C.J. Britton who specializes in intellectual property and helping keep start-up companies legal. As a fan of the Paleo diet personally, Brent is committed to helping Paleo bloggers, podcasters and other content producers protect the content they are producing to prevent others from stealing it. He's written a beginner's guide to this topic entitled Ownability: How Intellectual Property Works and shares some of the insights from his book in today's show.

Listen in to hear Jimmy and Brent discuss how people blogging in the Paleo or low-carb community should be careful with the disclaimer they display on their page to avoid legal ramifications, why it's important to incorporate your diet and nutrition business to protect your personal property against potential lawsuits, the recent examples in the Paleo community of legal issues regarding trademarks, and a whole lot more. There's so much invaluable legal information in this podcast that can help you if you blog, podcast, do YouTube videos, or have a social media presence sharing about healthy Paleo or low-carb living!

Dublin, Ireland-based chemical engineer Ivor Cummins is our interview guest today in Episode 843 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

So many people come to the low-carb way of eating out of necessity because of a personal weight and/or health crisis. And when they do, all of the skills and experience they have gathered up to that point in their life start to kick in to provide a unique take on what actions are necessary to become healthy and fit again. That's exactly what happened to an Irish chemical engineer named Ivor Cummins from "The Fat Emperor" blog who began having some issues with his health when a few blood tests came back as less than optimal.

THE CHOLESTEROL CONUNDRUM AND ROOT CAUSE SOLUTION

SUGAR AS A PRIMARY ROOT CAUSE OF METABOLIC SYNDROME

http://youtu.be/xrsHqIKtXNw

When Ivor put on his engineering cap to apply that methodical approach to solving his personal health problems. He researched and examined all the evidence involved in raising inflammation and cholesterol levels and what he discovered was astonishing to him. He read over 200 studies and came to the conclusion that what we have been doing to treat things like high cholesterol and metabolic syndrome have been wrong--DEAD WRONG! Listen in to hear Jimmy and Ivor talk about why he is committed to creating videos to help educate people about the low-carb answer to most of today's chronic health issues.

Chiropractor, blogger and author Dr. Joe Leonardi is our interview guest today in Episode 841 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

For some reason or another, talking about weight relapse within the low-carb, Paleo, or overall health communities is looked upon as taboo. The thinking goes that if this way of eating is working so well for you, then why would you ever gain weight back again after finding success? Some even assume that either the diet isn't working right or the person just stopped doing the plan when they're actually doing all the right things. We recently featured an interview with Hank Garner about this very subject and today we've got another great low-carb success story who experienced some weight regain. His name is Dr. Joe Leonardi (listen to Jimmy's interview with him way back in Episode 252, a Kingston, Pennsylvania-based chiropractor who famously lost 100+ pounds on a low-carb lifestyle change and was on fire sharing with others about how they could radically alter the future of their weight and health, too.

But then it happened. A stressful part of life started getting in the way along with some unforeseen circumstances that led Dr. Leonardi right back to gaining weight again. He's shared some of the lessons he garnered from that experience in his new book Sometimes The Bastard Returns: A True Life Account Of Obesity Relapse (read Jimmy's review). Listen in as Jimmy and Joe have a rather frank conversation about gaining weight after being successful at taking it off, the intense addiction to carbohydrates that continually pull you away from eating well, the absolute need for consistency in your routine to prevent relapse from taking hold, the difference between having a positive vs. negative attitude about things in your life, and a whole lot more.

Silicon Valley-based internal medicine physician, health blogger, podcaster and author Dr. Ronesh Sinha is our interview guest today in Episode 840 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

Primal superstar Mark Sisson has been busy lining up brand new authors for his Primal Blueprint Publishing company who have something to contribute to the health discussion. While not all of them have a claim to fame with a name everyone in the Paleo community would recognize (save Denise Minger), they all have something special and unique to contribute. That certainly describes today's interview guest, Dr. Ronesh Sinha. He is an internal medicine physician for the Palo Alto Medical Foundation where he treats high risk patients from South Asia to help put them back on the path of wellness again. Because there is such an epidemic of excessive stress and inevitable health calamity amongst these highly-intelligent Silicon Valley technology geeks, Dr. Ron is targeting them in his brand new book from Primal Blueprint Publishing entitled The South Asian Health Solution: A Culturally Tailored Guide to Lose Fat, Increase Energy and Avoid Disease.

Don't let the title of the book fool you, though. This book is chock full of information for ANYONE who is dealing with chronic weight and health issues today. Listen in to hear Jimmy and Dr. Ron have an insightful conversation about why he has such a heart for reaching the South Asian community in Silicon Valley, his own personal struggles with metabolic syndrome and how he overcame it, the epidemic of insulin resistance patients that he see in diverse populations, the health impact of working in a high-tech, sedentary job, the creative way he uses apps and other technologies to engage and motivate his patients to become well again, how stress has increased cardiovascular disease risk exponentially in Silicon Valley despite "normal" health numbers, why inflammation is the real culprit in many of the chronic health issues people in a high-stress work environment deal with, his work educating his fellow doctors, insurance companies and employers in shifting their thinking on nutrition and health, and the mobile medical van he created to go directly to companies to service the health needs of their employees. This is an incredible interview with a name we're going to be hearing a lot more about in the coming years!

A husband-wife team who were in attendance on the 7th Annual Low-Carb Cruise in 2014 named George & Tina Pauley are our interview guests today in Episode 839 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

The year 2014 marked the seventh annual Low-Carb Cruise event that Jimmy helps lead and it attracts people from all around the world to come hear the guest speakers, enjoy the company of fellow low-carb and Paleo enthusiasts, and visit some of the most exotic places on Earth while relaxing on a cruise. For Chandler, Arizona-based couple and LLVLC Show super fans George and Tina Pauley, this was their very first Low-Carb Cruise but they made the most of it. Software engineers by day and low-carb-success-stories-turned-nutrition-evangelists the rest of the time, these two are pretty hilarious as you will quickly hear in their conversation with Jimmy.

Listen in as Jimmy, George and Tina all recollect on the 2014 Low-Carb Cruise, their foray into low-carb dieting for different reasons, Tina's bout with necrotizing fasciitis (aka "flesh eating bacteria"), how they became patients of low-carb/Paleo physician Dr. Rocky Patel, the amazing camaraderie of the people who attended this event, why they changed their minds about not sticking to low-carb on the cruise, the incredible access to the guest speakers who attended, the education that took place outside of the conference times, butter with your food and no bread really does happen on the Low-Carb Cruise, the ease of staying low-carb on a cruise, free rum on the Virgin Islands, and lots of silliness all along the way! You can tell these three got along quite well on that big boat in the ocean and they're looking forward to doing it all again in 2015 (DETAILS COMING SOON!).

Holistic health practitioner and chiropractor Dr. Justin Marchegiani is our interview guest today in Episode 838 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

Imagine for a moment that you've prepared yourself for a promising career in the field of medicine by taking the traditional route of medical school to learn about the latest developments in surgical and pharmaceutical protocols for making people well. But then you observe first-hand what this model of health looks like up close and personal and you realize the tremendous shortcomings this has to offer people in regards to real solutions to their greatest health concerns. That's exactly what happened to Dr. Justin Marchegiani who decided his time and energy would be much better spent helping people reverse the effects of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. That's when his mindset changed from traditional medicine to more of a holistic, natural health approach to get to the root problem of health issues rather than simply covering them up with medications.

He gotdoctorate degree in chiropractic medicine and now practices in San Francisco, California area at the Just In Health Wellness Clinic. Listen in as Jimmy and Dr. Marchegiani talk about this journey to holistic medicine, why being a holistic doctor helps his patients get better through nutrition and lifestyle rather than medicine and surgeries, the common problems he is seeing in patients such as thyroid hormone imbalances, female hormone imbalances, and chronic infections, what he does to get to the root cause of these issues, how a low-carb diet fits within the nutritional protocol for improving the health of most of his patients, his own battle with an autoimmune thyroid issue and the research that led him to, why some people struggle even eating a low-carb and/or Paleo diet, the massive impact that stress plays on your health, and so much more! Dr. Marchegiani has lived it and is now helping his patients get well without the need for drugs. This is the future of healthcare and the prudent medical professionals are moving to a template like the one Dr. Marchegiani is using.

Author, health innovator, hunter, explorer, and quantified selfer Ashley Tudor is our interview guest today in Episode 837 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

If you've been paying attention to what's been happening with nutritional health in recent years, then you'll already there are two movements that have run along parallel paths in terms of their popularity. One is Paleo which was the #1 diet search term in 2013. But the other one is the quantified self movement with the whole idea of people conducting their own n=1 experiments to see what happens to them when they make changes to some aspect of their diet and lifestyle. Our host Jimmy Moore did this in 2012-2013 with his nutritional ketosis experiment. But if you ask Paleo enthusiast and quantified self-experimenter Ashley Tudor about this, she'd say self-testing is the way you make Paleo work best for you and she's outlined how and why in her new Victory Belt Publishing book entitled Perfecting Paleo: Personalize Your Diet Rules: Ancient Wisdom Meets Self-Testing.

Listen in to hear Jimmy and Ashley discuss why she is a big believer in hunting, how to make quality meats more affordable to the masses, her travels to other countries and her observations about the food culture there, the various experiments she did on herself in her pursuit of perfecting Paleo (including a stint into nutritional ketosis), and so much more. Ashley is a vibrant and articulate representative in the Paleo community that not near enough people know about. Soak in what she has to say in today's episode.
