Medical school student Larry Istrail is our guest today in Episode 615 of The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
After growing increasingly frustrated by the ignorance displayed by his nutrition professors in college about the effectiveness of low-carbohydrate diets in producing better weight loss and improvements in key health markers, Larry took it upon himself to come up with an idea to begin compiling data from real people who have seen results eating a Paleo, low-carb, real foods-based nutritional plan. He did this by creating an ambitious project he named the Ancestral Weight Loss Registry (AWLR) allowing people to voluntarily share any changes in their weight, health and other aspects of their life as a result of being on a Paleo or low-carb lifestyle.
The preliminary results of this massive undertaking that could warrant a lot of invaluable information in the years to come have been quite promising with an average weight loss of nearly 35 pounds, mostly on the Atkins diet, nearly three-fourths didn't even count a single calorie, a whopping 95% rarely or never feel hungry and much, much more! Listen in as Jimmy and Larry talk about the AWLR project and the ramifications it could have influencing people to try a low-carb or Paleo diet in the coming years!
